I remembered another anecdote about Art Arfons the other day, so I thought I had better write it to you while I think of it.
After his 576 MPH record runs, Art was flying back.
After the pilot made the customary announcement about the plane's altitude and speed, which
was about 5% less than Art's record, he sent a stewardess back to Arfons and she conveyed the pilot's
apologies for the plane flying so slow.
She told him the pilot and airline understood that he was used to moving faster and would have to be patient.
